About The Toronto Humane Society

The Toronto Humane Society is “dedicated to providing compassionate care, shelter, adoptions to caring homes and a voice for abandoned, abused and injured companion animals.”

The Society has a modern facility that houses its shelter, clinic and administrative offices. Technological advances such as computerized record-keeping, microchip pet identification and rapid-fire telecommunications systems have enhanced the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of shelter operations. The Society operates as an independent not-for-profit organization supported by donors and members. The THS does not receive government funding.

The Shelter:

The Society provides a desperately needed adoption facility and haven for injured and abandoned animals in the City of Toronto. The injured receive veterinary care, and abandoned animals are given a safe haven 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Immature and/or injured animals are placed in foster care until they are old enough and strong enough to be placed for adoption.

The Adoption Centre:

The Society provides a stand-alone adoption centre on Victoria Park Ave., which augments the Society's adoption capability at 11 River St.
