Foxy
We adopted Foxy in June 1992 when she was 2.5 years old. She had been waiting at the shelter for about 6 months for her forever home. We walked in the door and she picked us. I can remember her paw waving out of the crate at us.
Foxy was a puppy mill dog but, at that time, we had no concept of what that meant. Taking her home, everything was new to her—stairs, mirrors, you name it. I'm sure she was scared to death.
Over the years we took her to obedience classes, our new cottage, the grandparents, moved house three times and she took it all in stride. We fostered and then adopted her brother 4 years ago and she was very tolerant of him. As she reached her mid teens she slowed down considerably but what a healthy old girl she was. We nicknamed her "Low Maintenance" because she was so easy to care for.
It was very difficult letting go of her at the end but it was the right thing to do for our faithful old friend. She was 17 years old. Thank you very much to the Toronto Humane Society for bringing us together.
Leanne.
