(Toronto – August 11, 2005) In an ongoing effort to encourage the public to adopt a new best friend, The Toronto Humane Society continues to waive adoption fees for cats, kittens, dogs, and other small domestic animals. Rabbits excepted. Fees will be waived until Sunday, August 14, at 6p.m. when adoption closes.
“Animals are arriving at our doors in a steady stream,” says Society President, Tim Trow. “We can’t wait until Labour Day. We have to find them permanent homes now.” The Toronto Humane Society has over 100 cats and kittens and over 50 dogs who are healthy, happy and ready for adoption.
During adoption hours, animal experts will be on hand: feline evaluators, canine evaluators, trainers, and veterinarians. The Society’s standard adoption process will apply and potential guardians must complete an adoption application and successfully go through the interview process.
Each adoption includes:
- Vaccinations to date
- Six weeks Pet Plan insurance
- Microchip identification implant
- Flea control treatment
- Cat care information booklet
- Many shelter animals have already been spayed or neutered
To visit the animals, please visit our shelter at 11 River Street, or view available animals at www.torontohumanesociety.com. The adoption hours for Friday, August 12 are 12p.m. – 8p.m. and the adoption hours for Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14 are 11a.m. – 6p.m.
The Toronto Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization solely funded through charitable donations. Its mission is to promote the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent cruelty and suffering.
