CAT SKY HOUSE ADOPTION BLITZ

The Toronto Humane Society must free up space to gain space

( Toronto – November 3, 2005) Once again, The Toronto Humane Society shelter is bursting at the seams with cats and kittens. “In August, the community opened its heart as never before by adopting 308 cats over the long weekend,” said Society President, Tim Trow. “It is unbelievable that we are full again so soon. We have no choice but to increase our space.”

On October 1, The Toronto Humane Society began construction of its new Cat Sky House, and the shelter is asking for the community’s help. From Friday, November 4 to Sunday, November 6, the Society will hold an adoption blitz for dogs, cats and small domestics in an effort to free up space in the wake of continuing construction. “We are experiencing unusual constraints in housing animals, while construction is taking place,” says Trow. “We hope the community will help us help the animals.”

The addition to the second floor will house an additional 300 cats, and when the Cat Sky House is complete in the spring of 2006, the new facility will provide cats and kittens with roomier housing, better air quality and lots of natural light.

The public can help by adopting a pet companion this weekend. If adoption is not possible at this time, the Society asks pet lovers to consider fostering an animal in their homes while construction is ongoing.

Extended Adoption Hours:

November 4, 5 and 6 – 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. All adoption Fees are waived for the weekend.

 Each adoption includes:

  • Vaccinations to date
  • Six weeks Pet Plan insurance
  • Microchip identification implant
  • Flea control treatment
  • Cat or dog care information booklet
  • Unconditional LOVE

To view animals available for adoption, come to 11 River Street, or visit www.torontohumanesociety.com.

The Toronto Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization solely funded through charitable donations. Its mission is to promote the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent cruelty and suffering.
