( Toronto – September 14, 2005) Another huge influx of cats, kittens and dogs has prompted The Toronto Humane Society to waive its adoption fees for the third time this year. In one day alone, 58 cats were brought to the Society as strays or surrendered by owners.
“Autumn is on our doorstep and yet there are still dozens of immature and motherless kittens arriving at the shelter and we are running out of vacant cage space for both cats and dogs,” said Lynda Elmy, Communications Manager. “We encourage anyone looking for a new pet to love to come down to the humane society this weekend and adopt a new best friend for life.”
To help promote adoptions, the Society will once again waive adoption fees for all pets, excluding rabbits, from Friday, September 16 until closing on Sunday, September 18.
The standard adoption process will apply and potential adopters need to fill out an application and go through the interview process.
Included with each adoption:
- Unconditional love and affection
- Vaccinations to date
- Six weeks Pet Plan insurance
- Microchip identification implant
- Flea control treatment
- Cat or dog care information booklet
- Many shelter animals have already been spayed or neutered
For adoption information, or to view the many adorable animals looking for new homes, go to www.torontohumanesociety.com or visit the shelter at 11 River St.
The Toronto Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization solely funded through charitable donations. Its mission is to promote the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent cruelty and suffering.
