Autumn Adoption Affair – The Adoption Event of the Season!

(Toronto – October 27, 2006) This adoption promotion is part of an ongoing effort to help the hundreds of animals in the Society's care find loving, stable homes. “We are desperate,” says Society President, Tim Trow. “We are full to bursting yet the animals keep coming and we have a responsibility not to turn them away in their time of need.”

“Animal care takes hard work and a permanent commitment but the joy they bring to your life and the lives of your family cannot be measured,” encourages Trow.

The Toronto Humane Society does not charge adoption fees for the animals. Instead, donations are requested and appreciated. The Autumn Adoption Affair is going on from Friday, October 27 until Sunday, October 29.

The Toronto Humane Society will not adopt out black cats from October 27 – 31. Sadly, as Halloween approaches, black cats often fall victim to mischief makers and cruel pranksters. Another concern is that black cats will be sought to ‘accessorize’ Halloween-themed parties, being discarded soon after. For the safety and well-being of innocent black cats, potential adopters are asked to complete a standard adoption application, take part in the interview process, and if the interview is successful, wait to pick up their pet until November 1.

The Society’s standard adoption process will apply and potential adopters must fill out an application and take part in an interview process. Note: Potential adopters of black cats must wait until November 1 to take their pet home. Each adoption includes:

  • Vaccinations to date
  • 6-weeks of Pet Plan insurance (must be immediately activated by new guardian)
  • Microchip identification implant
  • Flea control treatment
  • Sample bag of cat/kitten food or discount coupon for Royal Canin Inc. puppy/dog food
  • Pet care information booklet
  • Many shelter animals have already been spayed or neutered

To view the many beautiful, healthy animals looking for new homes, please visit www.torontohumanesociety.com or 11 River St.

The Toronto Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization solely funded through charitable donations. Its mission is to promote the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent cruelty and suffering.
