Toronto Humane Society Lambasted for Meeting its Mandate

The Toronto Humane Society has been deluged with phone calls and emails of sympathy for Elaine Menna, who brought Chrissy the Cockatoo to The Toronto Humane Society in the condition pictured below. Society president Tim Trow even had death threats issued against him.

The Society has Chrissy’s health, safety and best interests at heart and has been helping her recover from her injuries for close to a year now, before the ruling on May 25, 2006, which forced us to return the bird.

While in our care, a number of photographs were taken which show Chrissy's physical condition in August, 2005, when she was brought to The Toronto Humane Society, including a sore so deep you could see the bone.

Having seen the pictures above, could one still think it unreasonable for the Society to wish to continue to monitor Chrissy’s state of health, and to request that she be taken to a veterinarian for a check up?
