Feline Genocide? - It is reported that the Chinese are "cleaning up" Beijing for Olympic Games

From the Daily News: Cats in Beijing rounded up by the thousands and placed in cat "death camps"

   China cat roundup
Cats being hauled off to holding camps in horribly cramped cages.

The feline roundup was initiated by the Chinese government in a bid to clean up the city in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games. The Chinese government has promoted a massive advertising campaign to warn the public about diseases carried by cats, including the ludicrous suggestion that the 2006 SARS epidemic was the result of viruses from feral cats. The campaign has spooked so many civilians that pet cats are being dumped on the street by the hundreds on a daily basis. Special "clean up crews" have been dispatched to round up the cats and bring them to holding camps, where most of them are simply left to die of disease and malnutrition.
