It costs a lot of money to run the THS, and we rely totally on generous individuals to help us raise the funds necessary to rescue and re-home thousands of animals every year. So we always appreciate when people surprise us by taking the initiative to raise funds to help the animals. Here are two such acts of philanthropy.
On February 20, 2008, Ms. Jessica Wiseman’s class at Agincourt Junior Public School decided to help the THS by raising funds through a week hot-chocolate sales and raffles. Perhaps the cold weather paid off, because they raised $216.64. They then took that money and purchased six Snuggle Safes (microwaveable hot stones that stay warm for 12 hours at time and are perfect for helping newborn kittens grow strong and healthy) which they then donated to our Kitten Nursery.
Matthew Hudson decided to turn his 12th birthday into a THS fundraiser and his parents threw a party where they asked guests to skip birthday gifts in favor of making a donation to the Society. Call it doing good while having fun. The party raised $360, which Matthew dropped off in person on March 07, 2008.
It’s because of the effort of people like Matthew and the children in Ms. Wiseman’s class that the THS was able to rescue nearly 10,000 animals last year. Thank you all.
