THS Investigates Rogue Tannery
The Toronto Humane Society, local police, public health officials and the Ministry of Natural Resources are investigating the discovery of more than 100 sheep carcasses found in a trailer parked behind an apartment building on George Street in downtown Toronto Saturday morning (February 24, 2007).

Rescued cats living among corpses and skeletons
The Toronto Humane Society was faced with a nightmarish scene Thursday afternoon when what they expected to be a routine voluntary cat surrender turned grisly. THS investigators were called in to remove approximately 20 cats from a home at Davenport and Weston Rd.

Cats Rescued from “Ferals First Taming Centre”
The Toronto Humane Society raided an independent cat shelter this afternoon (Jan 12, 2007), removing more than 30 cats from an unsafe and unhygienic environment. The shelter, known as both “Ferals First Taming Centre” and “Felines First” is a storefront operation located at 763 Woodbine Ave in the east end of the city. |

Future of Dalmatian Pups to be Determined
On Friday October 13, 2006, the Animal Care Review Board (ACRB) considered an eyewitness’s account of alleged animal abuse of two Dalmatian pups. The incident was said to have occurred on September 11, 2006, along the boardwalk off the lake shore in Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood. |

Rescue of Abandoned Animals at Pet Store
On August 16 2006, The Toronto Humane Society rescued 133 animals from an abandoned pet store. A concerned citizen contacted The Society about the Everything Under the Sun pet store, located in the Dufferin and Bloor area. The store appeared closed and unattended for at least three days. |

Lhasa Apso dog found living in extreme conditions
In July, 2006, The Toronto Humane Society Rescue Investigators were contacted by police who had earlier been called in to investigate a smell coming from an apartment unit. Neighbours in the apartment building were concerned that someone had, in fact, died in the unit and that the smell was caused by a decomposing body. |

Dog and four cats living in extreme conditions
On July 8, 2006, the THS Investigations department was given a tip by one of the shelter volunteers about a possible case of neglect in an apartment building. The volunteer had heard that there were reports of smells coming from the unit and that the place seemed to be infested with cockroaches. |
