In June, 2006, The Toronto Humane Society had an unusual visitor to its Wildlife Rehab Centre. Rocky the iguana was surrendered by his former guardian who could no longer take care of him.
Rocky stayed at the shelter for a few weeks and was fed a diet of fruit and vegetables before finally being adopted into the care of a new guardian with experience in looking after reptiles.
Take a look at some of the pictures that were taken of Rocky, during his stay at The Toronto Humane Society—this is certainly no “Rocky Horror Picture Show”!
The Society's Wildlife Rehabilitation Department cares for injured and immature animals. The Toronto Humane Society has cared for a variety of wild animals such as owls, hawks, deer, foxes, beavers, and raccoons. We have the expertise and knowledge to help rehabilitate these animals. The Shelter has both indoor and outdoor facilities to keep our wild animals safe.
