Happy Holidays!

Meet Swiper
Swiper was surrendered to THS December 20, 2010, with severe neck pain. A referral to a neurologist was recommended but his owners couldn’t afford it so they brought him to THS to get the specialized care he needed. His owners were devastated to give him up but wanted to do what was best for Swiper – and he was in immense pain, needing treatment right away.

When Swiper came in he was crying out with extreme pain, and we needed to take immediate action to help him. This included several different medications to manage both the pain and the inflammation. We consulted with the neurologists at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic and they very kindly accommodated him as an emergency that same afternoon.

Swiper was taken to surgery today and a large amount of extruded disc material was removed which was compressing his spinal cord. Dr Kilburn felt the surgery went well and is optimistic about his recovery. We were glad we could treat Swiper and ease the significant pain he was in. His specialized surgery was quite costly, and we could really use some help to cover the costs (approximately $5,500). If you’d like to help Swiper, please click here to donate today. On behalf of Swiper and all of us at the Toronto Humane Society - thank you.

Meet Josie
Gorgeous Josie is only 8yrs young and has an utterly adorable personality. She can be shy when first introduced to new people but once she gets to know you she’ll squeak at you anxiously until you give her some attention (plus her favorite things are Temptation treats and bouncy balls!). She'll be an absolutely great companion cat for somebody who enjoys a quiet, fluffy friend on the other end of the couch. We can't understand why our beloved Josie has been here sooooo long. Josie recently had all of her teeth removed and hasn’t quite been her social self since the surgery (this is a pretty major change for such a gentle soul!). We really want Josie to find her forever home ASAP so she can adjust to her new circumstances in the comforts of a peaceful, loving, stable home environment. If you can open up your heart and home to this delightful girl you will get many years of love, affection, and squeaks in return. Click here to find out more.
