Christmas Craft & Bake Sale
Thank you to our wonderful Volunteers for holding a Christmas Craft and Bake Sale on Sunday December 5. Through the sale, they raised over $1,400 to help care for the animals here at The Toronto Humane Society. Thank you so much for your generosity and creating this fundraiser - your support makes all of the difference!

Santa Visits The THS
Thanks to everyone who visited The Toronto Humane Society this weekend for our Pet Pictures with Santa event. Not only did this event help to spread some holiday cheer, but we brought in over $800 to help the animals here at the shelter. We really appreciate the support of all of the volunteers who made this event possible – in particular Wendy Strickland and Melanie Laking. Great job everyone! We hope you enjoy viewing our slideshow of photos from the weekend.

Wishlist – A Fridge for Our Vet Clinic
Our veterinary lab is in need of a small upright fridge (bigger than a bar fridge) to store medications and supplies in. If you have a fridge in good condition that you would like to donate, please contact us – Thank you!

A Holiday Message From The THS
It is almost impossible to believe that we have already arrived at the end of 2010.

This has been a particularly challenging year for The Toronto Humane Society. Our new Board of Directors was elected some 7 months ago.

We are pleased to announce that The Toronto Humane Society is well on its way to recovery.

On November 30, 2010, the Society held its Annual General Meeting, at 11 River Street.

This meeting gave us the opportunity to present our 2-year Strategic Plan to the membership, along with an Annual Review of the past 7 months of operations. We realize, however, that many members were unable to attend the meeting and, therefore, the details of these presentations are being made available for your convenience.

We are confident that the new year will bring even more exciting improvements and developments to this revered institution as we move into the implementation phase of these many new initiatives. A key focus for 2011 will be to increase our income, through fund-raising, to fund these new projects.

We wish to thank all of you for your ongoing support and would like to take this opportunity to wish you all Happy Holidays and a Peaceful and Prosperous New Year!

The Toronto Humane Society Spay/Neuter Service Fundraising Website Launches
Strategic planning has begun to implement a High Volume Spay and Neuter Service of The Toronto Humane Society's 11 River St. address. This clinic, a first in the downtown area, will serve the needs of the community in many ways.

Pet over-population is at a crisis level in our city. Estimates vary, but discussions with city-wide authorities place the numbers of homeless cats in the City of Toronto anywhere between 100,000 and 300,000 animals. Toronto Animal Services accepts some 200 cats a week into its various animal shelters across the city.

Organizations such as The Toronto Humane Society and Toronto Animal Services spend millions of dollars each year caring for abandoned, injured and homeless animals. These and other humane societies across the GTA are overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of animals that are made homeless every year.

The Spay/Neuter Service will aid tremendously in curbing Toronto's homeless pet population. Click here to visit the site today and help get this important initiative off the ground!
