SUMMARY:Ego and Yondu are TV Stars
DESCRIPTION:Two very young kittens\, Ego and Yondu\, came to Toronto Humane Society at the beginning of May. They were just days old and already quite ill. Toronto Humane Society’s medical team noticed that they both had swollen\, and badly infected paws. Despite the medical team’s best efforts\, these two youngsters lost their paws. \n  Ego lost her two hind paws and Yondu lost her paw and a little bit of her lower leg. Even still\, these two resilient kittens did not give up. Although they had lost their paws\, they were still bound and determined to move forward and start life. \n  Ego and Yondu have been spending time in Foster Care while they grow and recover. They have been so eager to move around and play like normal kittens\, they started forming sores where their paws had once been. It was time to find a solution. \n Toronto Humane Society’s medical and rehabilitation teams worked up a plan and have found the kittens some prosthetic paws! DESCRIPTION:Dear Friend of Toronto Humane Society\n\n\n\n\nI am writing you today because Toronto Humane Society is determined to provide as many animals with care and compassion as we can; no matter where they are or where they come from. That’s why Toronto Humane Society has formed partnerships and alliances with animal rescue organizations across Canada and around the world. Thanks to your generosity\, we have been able to coordinate the rescue of desperate animals from South Carolina to Texas\, Quebec to Manitoba\, and from Puerto Rico to China. Earlier this year\, we\, along with our partner organizations\, helped rescue 10 dogs from China’s meat trade. According to AnimalsAsia\, an animal rights group based in Hong Kong\, “it’s estimated that in China alone\, 10 million dogs and 4 million cats are slaughtered for the meat trade each year”. These animals are often stolen from their families\, or bred into a place where they will eventually be butchered\, some even skinned alive.  With your help\, we can save more animals from such cruel practices. Your gift today will help us rescue even more animals\, saving countless lives. Our team has travelled across Ontario and Quebec\, rescuing cats from desperate hoarding situations. We have coordinated the rescue of dogs from overcrowded shelters throughout the US to prevent unnecessary euthanasia. We have rescued animals from Florida to Texas who’ve suddenly become homeless after natural disasters. And\, last spring\, our team boarded a small plane and travelled to Ontario’s far North to provide care to animals in remote fly-in communities and brought some of them back here to find homes.
