SUMMARY:Toronto Humane Society believes Black Lives Matter
DESCRIPTION:At Toronto Humane Society\, we strongly condemn all acts of racism including police brutality and racial profiling against the Black community. We recognize that this is not just an issue we see in the United States\, but one that exists globally and right here in our own backyard. Systemic racism will not be fixed by one organization or one voice\, it is going to take society to come together to make this change. The humane community we have been fighting for cannot exist so long as systemic racism does\, and up until now we have been structurally blind to its impact and effects on and within our organization. \n Actions speak louder than words. \n We are committing to combating systemic racism\, by first taking action within our organization. To initiate this process we have developed a plan that starts now: \n 1) Hire an employee/consultant who will help us create the foundation for a new Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion Committee at Toronto Humane Society. \n 2) Toronto Humane Society will launch a research project assessing our programs and services to discover who we are serving. This project will highlight gaps in our services and allow us to develop a plan of action on how we can reach the communities we are not currently supporting. \n We recognize we have miles to go when it comes to improving our workplace environment but we are committed to taking action. We cannot take appropriate action on our own. We will need guidance from numerous sources. If\n you would like to further educate yourself on this movement here are some of the sources we are using: the Black Lives Matter website and other resources can be found here. \n \n At Toronto Humane Society\, we believe Black Lives Matter.

SUMMARY:A community of caring\, loving\, and adopting people
DESCRIPTION:As these weeks and months have passed Toronto Humane Society has seen a significant increase in people looking to adopt. We are truly ecstatic about the local community taking an interest in sharing their life with a lovable pet that will enrich their lives just as much as they enrich theirs. We have received more than 2\,700 applications from the littlest hamster and mouse to our biggest dogs\, and everyone in between. We could not be happier to be connecting lives and strengthening the human-animal bond. \n We are going through the applications on a first-come\, first-serve basis\, and how we determine eligibility for adopting has not changed with our new processes. We are simply lucky enough to have so many people looking to offer a home to our animals! We’ve seen that animal shelters and rescues across Canada are facing the same scenario\, likely due to an increase in people with extra time at home due to physical distancing who have more time to integrate a new member into their family. \n Our current response time is sitting on average at around 3-4 weeks\, please note that it is likely that most animals thankfully already have their fur-ever homes lined up and waiting. Throughout this process however\, our animals that have greater needs from a medical or behavioural standpoint are still looking for that purr-fect match. Our agents are prioritizing review and application processing for them\, as they are in greater need of support. \n If you’re interested in adopting from us\, we thank you for your understanding and patience as we work our way through the applications and continue to find forever families for our animals!

SUMMARY:There is no place like home
DESCRIPTION:A new way to keep animals and people together \n We are so excited to tell you about the launch of our Pet Parent Support Network\, an innovative\, hands-on way to keep animals with their families and out of the shelter system. \n Using an interactive database drawn from our in-house specialists\, our staff can now guide and support pet parents in search of information or advice. They will have the expert-based support they need to better care for\, and ultimately remain with\, their pets. \n \n This service is for anyone who needs it\, such as those who’ve recently lost their income\, those in need of temporary housing for their animal\, or even those wanting to better understand or improve their pet’s behaviour. Built from and sustained by a staff network of researchers and practitioners always advancing in their fields\, the Pet Parent Support Network will be a source of the most reliable\, up-to-date information for pet owners. \n The bigger picture \n This program marks an important step in our mission as we shift our focus from reacting to animal vulnerability to influencing and eliminating the causes of vulnerability. Of these causes\, one stands out: the separation of people from their animals due to a lack of means or knowledge. By empowering pet parents\, by giving them the resources and tools to care for their animals\, we stop the cycle before it starts. \n \n This program was long in the making\, and we could not have done it without our knowledgeable animal care staff\, who strive each day to advance their fields and improve the lives of animals in new ways. \nFor more information\, please visit our Pet Parent Support Network page.

SUMMARY:Giving those who help\, a hand
DESCRIPTION:Many non-profit organizations are struggling right now. Under a nationwide lockdown and a precarious funding outlook\, they have been thrown into survival mode\, forced to limit programs and services and find new ways of serving the communities that have come to rely upon them. \n That is why we are now offering animal welfare organizations in Ontario the knowledge and expertise of our medical staff\, free of charge. With our Shelter Outreach Program\, other shelters can consult with our experienced Shelter Medicine Veterinarians through virtual Tele-medicine. The animals these organizations care for will get the veterinary care they need\, while they themselves won’t have to worry about costs of consultations – thanks to a sponsorship from Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets. \n We are absolutely thrilled to be offering this service because in reality\, our mission doesn’t end at our doors. We have always strived to carry it with us to the furthest reaches of Canada and beyond. We want to be there for all animals and their caregivers\, no matter where they are. \n This new program wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets. With their sponsorship\, our costs have been covered\, so we can focus on delivering the high-quality veterinary care our team is known for. \n We want to thank Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets for their generosity and for helping us amplify our efforts to improve the lives of animals.

SUMMARY:Spoil your pet with Pet Playlists on Spotify
DESCRIPTION:PET PLAYLISTS – Toronto Humane Society Partners with Spotify \n Today\, Toronto Humane Society is excited to announce its support of the Spotify Pets campaign! This unique microsite allows for users to create which traits best align with their pet’s personality to create a personalized playlist that you and your pet might jam out to. \n\n Music can have a profound impact on animals! At Toronto Humane Society\, the animals receive world class enrichment 365 days a year. Toronto Humane Society’s Dr. Jacklyn Ellis\, one of only 35 Certified Animal Behaviourists listed says that “Music is a very powerful tool that can be used by any shelter to help reduce the stress of the animals in their care. A loud sound in an otherwise quiet environment can be quite frightening to a shelter animal – playing music can help dampen the shock.” At Toronto Humane Society\, animals receive daily walks and enrichment\, training and cuddle sessions; they get it all; including listening to relaxing\, classical melodies throughout the day. \n Toronto Humane Society is forever evolving into the leaders in the animal welfare industry and always excited to assess unique partnership opportunities to help bring a stronger voice to animals and also bring our expertise to great brands. It was a perfect match to partner up with Spotify on Pet Playlists and THS couldn’t be more thrilled! \n In just a few minutes\, you can create a personalized playlist for your pets at the click of a button. The site will ask you four questions to curate a playlist for your pet: What is your pet’s species? For all the Iguana owners out there\, they’ve even got an option for you too. Is your animal energetic vs relaxed\, shy vs friendly\, and apathetic vs curious? The microsite allows for a “gradient” when responding so you can have a mildly energetic dog or a very friendly cat as well. If you’ve ever wondered what your pet would listen to if they had thumbs\, we’ve now got the solution for you! \n Toronto Humane Society’s Spotify account is also home to a list of a few of THS’s “adoptable animals” that have playlists of their own. This is in an effort to provide adoptable animals with a unique online platform to increase their likelihood of being adopted. If you are looking to support a shelter friend now\, head on over to Toronto Humane Society’s Spotify account to give their adoptable’s playlists a listen! \n Music\, although not the be-all and end-all to animal psychology\, can certainly be used as a tool in conjunction with training\, routine\, and a loving environment! Toronto Humane Society encourages those to be mindful of the effects music can have on animals and to be observant of your animal’s body language throughout the duration of listening to ensure your animals are relaxed and comfortable. \n About Dr. Jacklyn Ellis:\n Dr. Jacklyn Ellis\n Manager\, Feline Behaviour\, Enrichment and Rehabilitation \n Our Feline training team is led by Dr. Jacklyn Ellis\, THS’s Manager\, Feline Behaviour\, Enrichment and Rehabilitation. With a wealth of experience working with and rehabilitating our shelter cats\, the feline team led by Dr. Ellis uses sound LIMA (Least Intrusive\, Minimally Aversive) behaviour modification and training principles to address unwanted behaviours while enhancing the human-cat bond. \n Prior to joining THS\, Dr. Ellis served as Nestlé Purina’s leading authority on feline behaviour in her role as a Behaviour Scientist in their research and development division. She earned her PhD in Animal Welfare at the Atlantic Veterinary College\, University of Prince Edward Island\, where she conducted research on methods for reducing stress in shelter cats. Her work has been published widely in peer reviewed journals and she has presented at many national and international conferences\, particularly on feline stress and elimination behaviour. She is currently in the process of writing a chapter on feline behavioural assessment for a new edition of the leading textbook on the behaviour and welfare of shelter animals. \n About Spotify:\n Spotify transformed music listening forever when it launched in Sweden in 2008. Discover\, manage and share over 50 million tracks\, including more than 1 million podcast titles\, for free\, or upgrade to Spotify Premium to access exclusive features for music including improved sound quality and an on-demand\, offline\, and ad-free listening experience. \n Today\, Spotify is the most popular global audio streaming subscription service with 286m users\, including 130m subscribers\, across 79 markets. We are the largest driver of revenue to the music business today. \n About Toronto Humane Society:\n Toronto Humane Society is an animal welfare organization whose mission is to promote the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent all forms of cruelty and suffering.  One of Toronto’s oldest charities\, they operate as an animal shelter and high volume clinic with spay/neuter and vaccination services. In recent years\, they have sought to expand beyond shelter activities to further improve the lives of animals. SUMMARY:Putting your giving to good use
DESCRIPTION:In the long\, steady struggle to improve the lives of animals\, we—staff\, volunteers\, fosters\, and you\, our supporters—are all in this together. We are not\, nor will we ever be\, an organization behind closed doors. Our doors remain open\, our practices public as we strive to be as transparent with our donors as possible. \n We\, along with 100 other charities\, have been recognized for this transparency by being included on the 10th annual MoneySense 2020 Charity 100 List\, receiving a score of 95.5/100. This list comprises Canada’s top charities\, based on financial efficiency and transparency. We are honored to have been included\, and thank MoneySense for their hard work in gathering so much data for Canada’s dedicated donors. \n The team based their rankings on what they call a “transparency score”\, which basically indicates how easy it is to find out about what a charity is spending and what they’re doing with the money. The more efficient a charity is with its donations\, the better the transparency score. You can find out more about MoneySense’s methodology here. \n Thank you\, donors \n We recognize the importance of those who choose our organization to give back to. Those who place their trust in us\, our people\, and our mission. We would not be able to do what we do without you. This is why we strive to not only be smart with our spending\, but to remain as transparent as possible with those who choose to give. Our supporters should know where their money is going\, and we are proud to tell them. From life-saving efforts inside the shelter and out\, from community outreach during times of crisis\, your support is improving the lives of animals.

SUMMARY:An update from the CEO
DESCRIPTION:Hello Everyone\, \n It has been about 4 weeks now since we have found ourselves in this new world. This new world we live in has changed many things for Toronto Humane Society\, but\, today I want to assure you that we are still here to support the animals and pet guardians in our community. The update I have for you today\, is long\, but it provides thorough detail on everything we are still accomplishing as an organization within our community. \n You may have heard earlier about our record start to the year! Starting with January\, with the highest canine adoption numbers we have seen in a decade. This in turn allowed us to open our doors to more dogs from\, not only Ontario\, but across Canada and the US too. Or you may have heard about the new grant funding for support programs that we received from PetSmart Charities of Canada. Things have certainly changed quickly since then. We find ourselves in a new world. A new world where animals are still in need of our help\, however\, it is a world where we need to find new and innovative ways to support them. \n Over the past weeks our staff have been hard at work re-designing our processes\, developing new initiatives\, educating\, researching and doing everything we can to ensure we continue to Improve the Lives of Animals. Our Foster Parents have been instrumental in our continuance and we have successfully placed hundreds of animals into their loving care. I want to share with you a high level of the work that has been on-going\, donations are still greatly needed and they are going to good use. \n Toronto Humane Society has been active advocating the need for Veterinary Services and Animal Care to be considered an essential service in Ontario. I am happy to say that we have succeeded in this venture\, working alongside numerous other organizations both of these items have been deemed essential by the Province of Ontario. This means we can continue to provide care to the animals who need us. Although\, some of our services have changed\, we are still providing emergency care to those who need it most in our community. \n With the closure of dog parks and recommendations for physical distancing\, there is a high potential for new behaviours to develop in our loving pets. These changes could be brought on from things like routine changes\, guardians being home more and the inability to burn off energy the way they are used to. Our innovative and expert staff have come up with a way to help out pets and their guardians from the comfort of their own homes. Our trainers are available for training consults over the web and phone to assist pet guardians with finding new ways to ensure their pets\, both dogs and cats receive all the best enrichment and mental stimulation they can. You can read more about this great initiative here. \n In an effort to reduce staff and foster parent travel\, we have launched a few new initiatives to reduce their risk as well. Shortly after we had to close to the public\, we have been operating tele-health consult appointments between our foster parents and Veterinarians to ensure our animals receive all the care they need. Essential staff have also been available at our shelter clinic to ensure any care required is provided. Additionally\, we have been working to establish and launch a supply shipment service so care supplies and medications can be shipped directly to our foster parent’s door. This initiative was so well received by one of our supporters Fondation Emmanuelle Gattuso\, they contributed a substantial donation to the associative costs. Thanks to this immediate support\, we are hoping to have this service up and running within the next week. \n Our Pet Food Bank has been running in overdrive\, with many skids of food being donated to us from some very generous corporate donors. These donations help to support our community initiatives\, as many individuals are still coming daily for curbside pet food bank pick up and we have already made a number of shipments to local community food banks so they can also distribute pet food in their community. \n You may have heard about one of our staff members Dr. Linda Jacobson – our Senior Veterinarian\, Shelter Medicine Advancement. Dr. Jacobson is also President of the Ontario Shelter Medicine Association and she has been working exceptionally hard to ensure shelters across the province remain updated with the most current information and supporting them with protocols on how to provide the best care throughout this period. If you are interested in supporting this work please click here. \n Although all of the above and more has been on-going our services are still needed on-site with direct care for many animals. In the last two weeks although closed to the public we have still been admitting emergent and urgent cases in\n need of help; including a lovely kitty\, who needed a leg amputation\, a young pup with the parvovirus and a number of other cases in need of care. \n As time moves forward and the situation develops we are anticipating an increase in the need for community support services and access to care. I am asking you today if you are able to please make a donation here to ensure these services continue. A One-Time or Monthly Gift is needed now more than ever. Please consider adding Toronto Humane Society to your list of supported agencies. \n Stay safe and healthy. \n Sincerely\, \n\n Jacques Messier\, DVM\, MBA\n Chief Executive Officer\n Toronto Humane Society

SUMMARY:Resources for COVID-19 and Pets
DESCRIPTION:There are a lot of questions out there these days about COVID-19 and how it could impact you and/or your pet. One of the most important things to make note of through these times is as of today\, April 9\, 2020\, there has been absolutely no evidence that your pet can transmit the virus to you. The biggest risk to humans is other humans. Maintaining physical distancing measures is important for your protection and your pet’s. Although\, there is no evidence that our pets can transmit the virus to us there is evidence to support that they can in-fact get COVID-19 from us. \n During a time where there are a whirlwind of questions going around\, and information is changing daily\, we wanted to provide you with a few options to follow to stay up to date when it comes to COVID-19 and our pets. Please see the websites below for more information: \n\n Cornell Blog – https://www.vet.cornell.edu/hospitals/maddies-shelter-medicine-program/covid-19-resources \n Worms and Germs Blog – https://www.wormsandgermsblog.com/\n\n Another thing we want to ensure all pet owners are thinking about is a plan for your pet should you become sick with COVID-19 and are unable to care for your animal. Your first options should always be reaching out to a close friend or family member. Your local animal welfare organization should only be contacted as a last resort. Toronto Humane Society is here for those with no other options for their pets. The image below is a great info-graphic to help you and other pet guardians make decisions during these uncertain times. \nHow to Keep Pets Safe at Home during COVID-19

SUMMARY:An Urgent Plea
DESCRIPTION:Dear Toronto Humane Society Supporters\, \n I am writing you today with an urgent plea. During this time of great uncertainty\, we are asking for your help. You may have seen that we have had to close our facility to the public as part of an effort to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of COVID-19. \n This closure is going to hurt us as an organization\, there’s no question. I know that everyone is affected by what’s happening right now\, but for those of you who are able to\, we’re asking for your help. Even though the building is closed to the public\, we will continue to foster\, house\, feed and provide medical attention to the animals in our care. We will continue to have dedicated staff working ‘round the clock to keep these animals happy and healthy. \n In addition to running costs\, we have had to stop our public services. Because we have had to stop our public services\, we are also losing the revenue that was associated with those programs. We know the community is going to continue to need our support\, especially through these times of uncertainty. This is why we are doing what we can to keep our Pet Food Bank open to those who need it\, we are reviewing each emergent case to determine if we are able to assist and we are continuing to find the animals in our care loving homes. To do this\, we need you. With your gift today\, you can help us continue to provide the care needed by these animals that have no one else to turn to. \n Your gift today will not only help us to keep animals safe and cared for\, but will help us restart all of our Community Services once the COVID-19 situation has passed. A donation of $20\, $50 or even $500 will go directly to animal medical\n care\, their daily food and shelter\, and of course\, a place to call home. \n Thank you very much for reading our plea and your continued support of Toronto Humane Society\, especially in dire times like these. \n To donate please visit www.torontohumanesociety.com/covid19. \n\n Sincerely\, \n Jacques Messier\, DVM\, MBA \n Chief Executive Officer \n \n Toronto Humane Society

SUMMARY:Fill Their Stockings with Love
DESCRIPTION:At Toronto Humane Society do our best to make each and every animal in our care feel loved\, especially during the Holiday Season. But without families of their own\, shelter animals won’t be waking up to a special Holiday morning. \n They won’t be up at 5am with the kids. They won’t feel the warm cheer. Smell the eggs and toast\, the sharp\, sweet aroma of the tree. They won’t hear the crackling of the fireplace\, the excited tearing open of gifts\, the “thank you-thank yous”\, the shouts of joy. There won’t be any gifts waiting for them. \n For animals without a family\, each morning is the same as the last. We wanted to change that with Stocking Stuffers\, a fundraiser where you can share a little of the Holiday Spirit with animals without a home! We’ve already given our animals their very own stockings. All we need now is you! \n When you purchase one of our Stocking Stuffers\, an animal’s stocking will be filled with festive gifts on your behalf! Not only that\, but soon after they’ve gotten into their goodies on that special morning\, you’ll receive a personal ‘thank you’ from one of the animals! \n \n All proceeds go straight back to the care of our animals. Visit our event page and help spread a little Holiday spirit!

SUMMARY:Help save more animals like Bandicoot
DESCRIPTION:When Bandicoot arrived at our shelter sick and exhausted\, we couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He was coughing one minute\, gagging the next. He was so tired he could barely keep his eyes open. \n We performed an examination and could feel a sharp\, solid object protruding from the right side of his neck region. We brought out the x-ray equipment and performed two skull radiographs. This is what we saw: \n Lodged deep inside of his neck\, just to the right of his trachea\, was a sewing needle. We knew we had to act fast. After a brief discussion\, Bandicoot was rushed to an emergency hospital where the needle (and any remaining string) would be carefully removed by a team of surgeons. \n \n The procedure was a complete success! Bandicoot was needle free and already improving. He’s now at home with a loving family\, getting back to his cuddly ways. \n \n We were lucky to have the resources and personnel ready for the emergency consultation and surgery\, all of which cost a significant amount. That’s not even including the transportation costs\, daily medication and day-to-day care. \n \n Without the continued generosity of our donors\, animals like Bandicoot would likely not survive their struggles. Thank you so much for reading and for continuing to support Toronto Humane Society.

SUMMARY:It’s raining rescues!
DESCRIPTION:Thanks to our many partnerships and alliances with animal rescue organizations across Canada and around the world\, our Rescue Transport Program has helped rehome thousands of homeless animals around the world. \n 2019 is already off to a great start! With the help of the Guelph Humane Society and the North Bay Humane Society\, we have changed the lives of 75 cats living in Northern Ontario. \n \n Four different rescues groups and animal shelters coordinated the drop off to our friends in North Bay. From there\, the North Bay Humane Society made the trip down to us where we and some of our friends at the Guelph Humane were waiting excitedly with open arms. 37 of the cats remained with us\, 38 went to Guelph! \n \n Janet Bredin from North Bay Humane Society was thrilled to have taken part in the transfer\, remarking that the assistance we’ve provided smaller organizations “can hardly be expressed in words.” And according to Samantha Westphal from Guelph Humane Society\, they were thrilled to have been involved\, telling us everything went smoothly on their end! \n \n This transfer is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when we work together\, 75 cats whose outcomes were uncertain now have the opportunity to find their forever homes here in Southern Ontario. Stay tuned as many of these little guys will be looking for their forever homes in the coming months! \n \n A huge thank-you goes out to all the staff and volunteers in Guelph\, North Bay\, and neighboring areas for helping to save these lives.

SUMMARY:The flight at the end of the tunnel
DESCRIPTION:Holy hamster wheel is it ever cold out! After strolling through an undecided December\, it looks like winter’s finally blowing its way in. As we bundle up\, shovel our way to cars that won’t turn over\, and dream more and more of the sunny days of summer\, many of us are already scouring Expedia for some last minute flight deals. \n For pet parents\, air travel can be quite an ordeal. Where is your pet being kept? For how long? What did the vet say again? Is the house even locked?! Deep breath. If you plan ahead and ask questions\, it won’t be nearly as bad as you might think. Here are some quick tips for both the experienced flyer and the first timer. \n \n Doctor’s orders \n Make a visit to the veterinarian to update all vaccinations and grab any legal documents you’ll need. It’s also important to note that pets very young and very old\, pregnant\, ill\, or injured should not be flying anywhere. \n \n Keep calm and carry on \n Head out to purchase a good quality travel carrier for your pet. Make sure it’s large enough for them to stand up and turn around in. You’ll also want to ask your airline about size allowances and any kind of special requirements. \n \n Baby steps \n Instead of surprising your pet with a new carrier the night before your flight\, it’s best you introduce them to it gradually\, several weeks before your flight. By becoming adjusted to their carrier well before the flight\, they’ll cope better the travel. Pro tip: start by leaving the carrier door open and placing treats\, meals or toys inside! \n \n Training day \n Provide your pet with some exercise before leaving for the airport; give them a light meal three to four hours before take-off; and give them water right up to the time of travel. It’s also a good idea to take your pet for a walk and quick bathroom break shortly before boarding (ask your airline ahead of time if this is allowed). \n \n For more information on safe air travel for pets\, check out what the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association has to say.

SUMMARY:A real page turner
DESCRIPTION:2018 was a big year for our humane education program. We hosted nearly 20 classes of students from all over Toronto. We saw so many bright young faces stop by to work their reading magic on some of our shy shelter animals\, all while learning about animal welfare\, pet behaviour and communication. \n Now that we’re in 2019\, we have a whole new gang of listeners who can’t wait for story time! \n \n Reading Buddies is a great experience for both students and pets: students get to practice their reading skills in-front of the furriest\, friendliest\, and most non-judgemental audience ever; at the same time\, our shelter animals get that much needed company and socialization which\, in the end\, helps them get adopted. \n \n If you are a teacher with a class of animal lovers who are interested in being Reading Buddies\, please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)/*’\,’a’\,’/’\,”\,'”‘\,’ 109′\,’ 111′\,’ 99′\,’ 46′\,’ 121′\,’ 116′\,’ 101′\,’ 105′\,’ 99′\,’ 111′\,’ 115′\,’ 101′\,’ 110′\,’ 97′\,’ 109′\,’ 117′\,’ 104′\,’ 111′\,’ 116′\,’ 110′\,’ 111′\,’ 114′\,’ 111′\,’ 116′\,’ 64′\,’ 110′\,’ 111′\,’ 105′\,’ 116′\,’ 97′\,’ 99′\,’ 117′\,’ 100′\,’ 101′\,’:’\,’o’\,’t’\,’l’\,’i’\,’a’\,’m’\,'”‘\,’=’\,’f’\,’e’\,’r’\,’h’\,’a ‘\,’= 0)out += unescape(l[i].replace(/^ss*/\, ‘&#’));while (–j >= 0)if (el[j].getAttribute(‘data-eeEncEmail_jgdgojudZO’))el[j].innerHTML = out;/*]]>*/. SUMMARY:You can help animals like 4 month old Corin
DESCRIPTION:At only 4 months old\, little Corin had no family and was in desperate need of medical care. Her eye was so badly infected that it had ruptured and became inflamed. It must have been so painful for the poor girl as she struggled all on her own. \n Luckily\, she found her way to us through our Rescue Transport Program. \n She was quickly pushed through to get emergency surgery that would relieve her of her pain and\, ultimately\, save her life. She’s now doing just fine and can’t wait to get into all sorts of kitten mischief at her new home. \n A complex surgery like this\, on top of transporting Corin’s rescue group to our location and providing them all with day-to-day care\, can add up to a significant cost. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Donate Now \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Without people like you\, Corin would likely not have survived. \n\n\n\n\n We wish we could say “that’s that”. We wish we could wrap things up here knowing that Corin\, along with the other homeless animals we have brought in\, are now safe and sound. But sadly\, that’s not the world we live in. \n Sadly\, there are still thousands upon thousands of animals out there who need your help. \n We want to continue bringing in these homeless animals and provide them with high quality\, lifesaving medical treatment when needed. \n Your gift today will help us do just that. A donation today of $5\, $25\, $50 or even $300 will go directly to rescuing homeless animals and providing them with high quality medical care\, daily food and shelter\, and of course\, a place to call home. \n Thank you so much for reading and for continuing to support the Toronto Humane Society. \nDONATE NOW!

SUMMARY:Chance’s Happy Tail (or leg?)
DESCRIPTION:Khalid – now known as Chance – was minding his own business when along came a car. You can imagine that what happened next was not very pleasant. \n Luckily for Chance\, he pulled through\, but not without some lasting damage. He suffered from a partial right brachial plexus avulsion\, which in plain-speak basically means some major nerve damage to his . \n Because his nerves weren’t speaking to his muscles Chance front legwas unable to use his leg properly. He dragged his paw along the ground as he moved\, and caused some damage to it just trying to get around. There was a large possibility his entire leg would have to be amputated. \n But that leg didn’t know Christina\, one of our amazing registered veterinary technicians (RVT) and an animal rehab specialist. Christina used every tool at her disposal – laser beams\, electrical stimulation\, chiropractics\, acupuncture\, treadmill exercises and more – all in an effort to save Chance’s limb. And with patience and dedication\, bit by bit Chance began to regain function of his leg. \n But Christina didn’t do this all on her own\, Chance has someone else to thank for his recovery – his adopter. \n Chance was made available as a foster-to-adopt animal waaaay back in March\, and foster parent and soon to be owner was with him every step of the way through his rehab journey. In fact\, Christina says his adopter is a big reason that Chance is still able to stand on four legs today. \n A huge thank-you goes out to the entire medical team involved in Chance’s care (including PawsAbility who donated his brace)\, and of course\, to the kind soul who stood by him these last six months. \n We loved you Chance\, but we are beyond happy to say goodbye <3 \n\n What Chance’s journey here: https://youtu.be/dSSUJQef_mc \n This video was made and edited with with Clipchamp Create!\n https://clipchamp.com/en/products/create

SUMMARY:Your Gift Goes Beyond Borders
DESCRIPTION:Dear Friend of Toronto Humane Society\n\n\n\n\nI am writing you today because Toronto Humane Society is determined to provide as many animals with care and compassion as we can; no matter where they are or where they come from. That’s why Toronto Humane Society has formed partnerships and alliances with animal rescue organizations across Canada and around the world. Thanks to your generosity\, we have been able to coordinate the rescue of desperate animals from South Carolina to Texas\, Quebec to Manitoba\, and from Puerto Rico to China. Earlier this year\, we\, along with our partner organizations\, helped rescue 10 dogs from China’s meat trade. According to AnimalsAsia\, an animal rights group based in Hong Kong\, “it’s estimated that in China alone\, 10 million dogs and 4 million cats are slaughtered for the meat trade each year”. These animals are often stolen from their families\, or bred into a place where they will eventually be butchered\, some even skinned alive. With your help\, we can save more animals from such cruel practices. Your gift today will help us rescue even more animals\, saving countless lives. Your donation today of $10\, $50 or even $500 will go directly toward rescuing animals from desperate situations\, no matter where they are in the world. Your gift will go the distance! Donate Now Our Rescue Transport Program coordinates the transfer of animals from wherever they need help. Our team has travelled across Ontario and Quebec\, rescuing cats from desperate hoarding situations. We have coordinated the rescue of dogs from overcrowded shelters throughout the US to prevent unnecessary euthanasia. We have rescued animals from Florida to Texas who’ve suddenly become homeless after natural disasters. And\, last spring\, our team boarded a small plane and travelled to Ontario’s far North to provide care to animals in remote fly-in communities and brought some of them back here to find homes. This is all thanks to you and your generosity. With your continued support\, our Rescue Transport Program can push the boundaries of animal care. Thank you so much for your continued support of Toronto Humane Society. Dr. Jacques Messier Chief Executive Officer Toronto Humane Society Donate Now

SUMMARY:Ego and Yondu are TV Stars
DESCRIPTION:Two very young kittens\, Ego and Yondu\, came to Toronto Humane Society at the beginning of May. They were just days old and already quite ill. Toronto Humane Society’s medical team noticed that they both had swollen\, and badly infected paws. Despite the medical team’s best efforts\, these two youngsters lost their paws. \n Ego lost her two hind paws and Yondu lost her paw and a little bit of her lower leg. Even still\, these two resilient kittens did not give up. Although they had lost their paws\, they were still bound and determined to move forward and start life. \n Ego and Yondu have been spending time in Foster Care while they grow and recover. They have been so eager to move around and play like normal kittens\, they started forming sores where their paws had once been. It was time to find a solution. \n Toronto Humane Society’s medical and rehabilitation teams worked up a plan and have found the kittens some prosthetic paws! Ego and Yondu have gone for their first trial with the prosthetics and are bound and determined to make them work. \n If you would like help Ego and Yondu through their recovery or other animals that arrive at the Toronto Humane Society\, please visit www.torontohumanesociety.com/egoandyondu to donate. \n Watch Ego and Yondu be TV Stars on Breakfast Television: https://www.bttoronto.ca/videos/two-kittens-get-a-second-chance-at-life-toronto-humane-society/

SUMMARY:Pet of the Week - Pacino
DESCRIPTION:Pacino is a huge softie\, a gummy bear\, a cushy\, cuddly\, snuggly bubbly little purr prince. He likes violin music and soft hands\, butterfly kisses and long conversations about your feelings. When you come to visit him at his pad\, he’ll already be purring. All he wants is to rub his head against your hands and fall asleep in your lap. \n But there’s more to this bundle of blissful blankets than meets the eye. You can see it in his main profile picture. We told him to act natural. He gave us a face that could easily be featured on the cover of a gangster rap album. He can be a real toughie\, a real bare-knuckle bruiser! \n The reason for his good cop\, bad cop routine is his past. The poor guy came to us in rough shape. We can’t imagine what he’s been through! He’s all better now\, but he can sometimes be a little skittish when it comes to handling. 90 percent of the time\, he’s an angel. But the moment he becomes uncomfortable\, he will swat and hiss. This is usually when he’s being touched\, especially around his belly or butt. \n Being FIV positive\, Pacino will need to see a vet once a year. He’ll be fine. He’s a tough guy. All this means is that he can’t bite or scratch any other cat since that is how FIV is spread. \n Pacino is looking for a mature home with someone who understands and appreciates his unique personality. He’d be the perfect lap cat and sleep-in companion. He just wants all the snuggles! \n \n If you’d like to learn more about Pacino please come visit us at the Toronto Humane Society or reach out to us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)/*’\,’a’\,’/’\,”\,'”‘\,’ 109′\,’ 111′\,’ 99′\,’ 46′\,’ 121′\,’ 116′\,’ 101′\,’ 105′\,’ 99′\,’ 111′\,’ 115′\,’ 101′\,’ 110′\,’ 97′\,’ 109′\,’ 117′\,’ 104′\,’ 111′\,’ 116′\,’ 110′\,’ 111′\,’ 114′\,’ 111′\,’ 116′\,’ 64′\,’ 110′\,’ 111′\,’ 105′\,’ 116′\,’ 112′\,’ 111′\,’ 100′\,’ 97′\,’ 101′\,’ 110′\,’ 105′\,’ 108′\,’ 101′\,’ 102′\,’:’\,’o’\,’t’\,’l’\,’i’\,’a’\,’m’\,'”‘\,’=’\,’f’\,’e’\,’r’\,’h’\,’a ‘\,’= 0)out += unescape(l[i].replace(/^ss*/\, ‘&#’));while (–j >= 0)if (el[j].getAttribute(‘data-eeEncEmail_UnIpzABVHG’))el[j].innerHTML = out;/*]]>*/.
