We wanted to share an update on Calvin our big bear. We adopted him in July 2012. Prior to that he had been at The Toronto Humane Society a few months and had been shuffled around a lot. We heard that his previous owners had struggled with some of his behaviours and medical issues. When we first met Calvin he was a big 115lb sleepy, strong minded dog. However, he was a total charmer and wanted to shake my hand/paw when we first met. We heard from the THS staff that Calvin had some medical conditions that would require life long treatment and that he found it hard to get along with other dogs. We really appreciated the time and commitment the staff and volunteers show in ensuring that all the animals find the right home not just any home. We can not even begin to tell you how much joy and love Calvin brings to our family. With the right medical treatment and exercise Calvin is now a slender 92lbs. With patience, love and encouragement he became the social dog he always wanted to be. His favoutite activity is his time in the dog park and he is such a gentleman when he is there. He is the most gentle lovable bear and we are so lucky he found his way in to our lives. Thank You THS.
