Chloe

Chloe

June 18, 2020

I adopted Chloe from the Humane Society 12 years ago when she was 6 years old and I was a naive cat owner at the time. I took her to the vets a year after adopting her. She had started showing signs of illness at that time. The vet gave me the horrible news that Chloe was suffering from a condition called mega colon. The vet informed me I had two choices: he could operate on her to remove her colon, or she would have to be euthanized. In my mind there was only one choice as I had become attached to her, operate. After 6 long hours on the operating table, including having to let her come out of the anesthetic and putting her back under, due to having to extract all of her molars because they were rotted, she made it! The recovery was difficult and long and I had to learn how to give her medication, which neither of us enjoyed at all.

After many years of close calls, enemas, extractions, and changes in food and medicine, she is the healthiest cat I have ever owned! She’s just about to turn 18 and she still acts like a kitten, playing with her toys regularly. I like to think that she stayed alive to keep me company as I isolate during this pandemic. She is my forever fur baby!
