I adopted Gilver on Halloween (seems so long and so short ago!) from the Toronto Humane Society. I am a first time cat owner and had lots of questions (I even emailed the THS about a concern that actually ended up being his nipple..!).
Gilver, as I was told, came with a disclosure form for his behavior, and quite simply an awareness of how cat behaviour can be. I also learned he had been returned to the shelter previously. These two insights into his life were what made me want to give him a home and love that he and any pet deserves.
Since adopting him, he has been the sweetest and most curious cat I have met. There’s definitely been some learning about caring and understanding cats. But nonetheless, Gilver is very talkative, loving, playful and exactly what my life needed. He enjoys belly rubs, playing with bouncy toys & string for cats and greeting you at the door. He will also, if you let him and on his own terms, lay in your lap to catch a cat nap. A wonderful little guy. He has been to the vet and on his first big road trip all while cacthing some Z’s in his favorite spots: on the bed, in his carrier or in his cat “pad”.
Attached are some photos of Gilver over the past few months. Thank you to the THS, staff and volunteers for making this adoption possible!
