National Cupcake Day is a nation-wide fundraiser supporting participating humane societies and animal rescue groups across Canada. Animal lovers come together to raise money and spread awareness to help animals in need. National Cupcake Day takes the cake as the sweetest way to help our four-legged friends.
This year, the day falls on Monday, February 28th, 2022!
As you might have guessed, we won’t be seeing you or your beautiful cupcakes in person, but there are tons of different, sweet ways we can come together.
If you can’t bake them, you might as well join them. Check out this list of local bakeries that are supporting National Cupcake Day.
Cinnaholics High Park serves “create your own” cinnamon rolls and other sweet treats. All of their products are fresh baked and 100% vegan as well as dairy-free, lactose-free, and egg-free.
From Monday, February 28 – Thursday, March 3, 2022, purchase the Waggle Roll (Cream cheese frosting, a scoop of cookie dough and an Oreo Cookie) or a 4-pack of Baby Buns and all proceeds will go towards Toronto Humane Society’s National Cupcake Day goal!
Hype Food Co. is an allergy-aware casual restaurant and bakery that is also nut-free. Our kitchen is free from gluten and priority allergens (peanuts, tree-nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, sesame, fish, crustaceans and molluscs).
From Friday, February 21 – Tuesday, March 1, 2022, purchase cupcakes from the designated page (they are vegan!) and Toronto Humane Society will receive 50% of the sales!
Tori’s Bakeshop opened in March 2012 as Toronto’s first plant-based cafe, baking fresh daily goodies with natural, organic, seasonal ingredients, sourced as locally as possible.
On Monday, February 28, purchase the chocolate buttercream-frosted vanilla cupcakes with a stovetop fudge heart center and a shortbread cat OR dog on top and all proceeds will go towards Toronto Humane Society’s National Cupcake Day goal!
Dough Bakeshop is a family business established in 2009. Small batch artisan bread, pastry, croissant, custom cakes, pies, cookies available fresh daily; all made from scratch, on site. Homemade soup, take-home meals, and a small selection of gourmet grocery items too!
On Sunday, February 27, 15% from all purchases (not just cupcakes!) will go towards Toronto Humane Society’s National Cupcake Day goal.
Mardi Michels has joined Toronto Humane Society’s National Cupcake Day team and is hosting an online baking class on February 28th from 5:00pm – 6:00pm! Mardi will be demonstrating how to make “financiers” a special kind of French cupcake-like teatime treat.

You can sign up as an individual, a team, or join our team! Bake cupcakes for those you live with, your co-workers, or your neighbours, and help make this day a bit sweeter for everyone. When you sign up, don’t forget to choose Toronto Humane Society as your charity and share your fundraising page with your family and friends!
