Dean

| September 20, 2021

When Dean came to us at three weeks of age he was malnourished. Dean was unable to retrieve milk from his mom because of a cleft palate which prevented him from swallowing. When he tried to swallow milk, it came out through his nose.

At first, Dean needed to be tube fed which he didn’t like – so he would often chew on the tube. As Dean grew, our medical team was able to place a tube directly into his neck which made feeding more comfortable for Dean. He will continue to have the tube in his neck until his palate surgery when he is six-months-old.

Dean’s foster parents report he is happy and feeding sessions are so much easier with the neck tube.
