When Happy and Dopey first came into our home as 5 days old foster kittens, they were so small and fragile that our only thought was helping them feel safe, loved, and strong enough to find their forever home. We never expected that forever home would be ours.

From the beginning, we were part of all their little milestones: bottle-feeding them, helping them learn to eat on their own, watching them gain weight, and celebrating every new burst of energy as they began to play and explore. We got to know their personalities slowly, in all the small, unforgettable moments that made them feel less like foster kittens and more like family.

Dopey, now Kashi, had a more difficult start and needed extra care. We worried about him, celebrated every sign of progress, and felt incredibly proud each time he grew a little stronger. Happy, now Killua, was always close by. Their bond was clear from the beginning, and watching them comfort, follow, and grow alongside each other made it impossible to imagine them apart.

Somewhere along the way, our plans changed. By the time they were ready for adoption, we were already completely attached. They had become part of our daily lives and had found their way into our hearts. In September, we officially adopted them both through Toronto Humane Society.

Now Kashi and Killua are 3 months old and share their home with our older cat, Skuggy, and our puppy, Nami. Life with them is louder, busier, and definitely more chaotic, but it is also fuller and happier. They have brought so much joy into our home, and we love watching their personalities continue to grow.

Happy and Dopey may have entered our lives as foster kittens, but Kashi and Killua are our family now. They are home for good.
