The many ways to support animals this season

We all know that, by supporting Toronto Humane Society, you are supporting animals and our animal-loving communities. But when you look at all the different ways you can give back, it might seem a little overwhelming. Especially for first-time givers who might want to help those in need this season.

Here are the ways you can help make a difference with Toronto Humane Society.

Visit our Holiday Market

Stocked with adorable plush animals and gift cards that feature shelter animals that found their forever homes, you can send a gift that gives back from our Holiday Market.

Grab a Bag of Coffee

Have a few coffee lovers on your nice list this year? Get coffee shipped directly to them with All For One Support. 75% of all purchases go toward funding our animal care services, medical assistance and so much more.

Donate

Toronto Humane Society takes in thousands of animals every year. It is thanks in large part to the donations we receive that each of these animals are cared for and loved.

Donating will not only help care for animals, it will also help us support our community by increasing our efforts in programs such as affordable veterinarian care and support for pets and their guardians through our food bank.

There are several options for those who want to donate. You can make a make a one-time donation, become a monthly donor, or honour someone in your life with a gift through tribute giving. You can even donate

a vehicle.

Donating to Toronto Humane Society can go a long way. It is also one of the easiest ways to support us – you can even donate by text!

Start a Donation Drive

Keep a donation bin at your school or office, or offer to pick up donations from friends and family. Here is a list of the donations that we could use to help our shelter animals:

• Old, clean towels and blankets
• New or gently used collars, harnesses, and leashes
• Dry or canned food
• Treats
• Toys, including those that can be stuffed with food or treats
• Clumping and non-clumping cat litter
• Gift cards for pet supply stores
• New or gently used travel crates

Plan a Fundraiser

Setting up a fundraiser online can encourage friends and family members to donate to a cause that’s important to you. Funds from donations go toward helping our shelter animals with food, supplies and medication, but most importantly, helping them to find their new forever homes.

Volunteer

The holidays can be a busy time for most people, but we can all take a break from the holiday madness to help animals in need. Toronto Humane Society values its history of partnering with volunteers to achieve its mission of promoting the humane care and protection of all animals and to prevent cruelty and suffering. We have a handful of different volunteer options available.

Foster an Animal

Animals need rescue year-round, but the chaos of the season often means fewer foster homes are available. Consider providing a temporary foster home to our shelter animals. All they need is a quiet place to hang out and your love and attention – we will provide you with their necessary pet supplies.

Sponsor a Kennel

If physically adopting an animal isn’t an option, you can give the gift of virtual adoption by sponsoring a kennel. Your donation will go towards food, housing, and medical needs for the animal you choose, and you’ll receive monthly updates on how your sponsored pet is doing.

Adopt!

One of the best gifts you can give a homeless animal is a home. Toronto Humane Society has dogs, cats, and small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs waiting in our shelter for a family to love them. If you know of a family that is thinking about getting a pet, consider offering to cover the adoption fee as a gift!
