We are madly in love with this perfect fluff.
I am working very hard on his reactivity during walks. He has finally realized that we also have squirrels here!
I mostly keep our daily walks on quieter streets where he can just relax a bit more and sniff everything that needs sniffing. He has started marking as well.
He is getting better at ignoring other dogs/squirrels/cats/leaves/or pretty much anything that moves . When we encounter one of his triggers, I make him sit and focus on me and pretty much bride him with a lot of treats. Most times he is great at it, and sometimes not so much, but he is my art in progress.
He has made himself completely at home. He has claimed the couch but is learning that it belongs to all of us. Sharing can be such a drag! He is a farting monster and pretty proud of it!
He had an accident last week and ended up peeing in the house but that was entirely my fault as I misread his cues, I thought he was getting nervous when he was in fact asking me to go outside. But now I learned another one of his cues so yay!
We are also working on his crate training, let’s just say some times are better than others but we are getting there. He feels a lot calmer when his sister Beans is in the room with him so I got a baby gate to make sure she stays in the room with him. Beanie is not impressed but she will get over it! They are becoming a bonded pair very quickly. His whole demeanor is calmer when she is close to him. And they love snuggling on the couch at night. It makes my heart full!
We are also working on his drinking problem. He would drink bowl after bowl of water if allowed so I monitor his water intake for now until he understands he does not need to fill up on water so much.
I have also weaned him off his anxiety meds (under our vet’s supervision) and he is doing really well. A bath is also in his near future, now that should be interesting.
He is such an incredible dog, he is so cheeky, loving and so sweet, a perfect gentle giant. He really does belong with us, we all just match perfectly.
He is becoming a huge Survivor fan, never misses an episode! He loves bananas, watermelon, pumpkin purée, Greek yogurt, gets lots of healthy treats, loves working on his giant Kongs and has good chews on his bully sticks. He is also becoming bilingual, he gives you kisses if you ask him for a bisou. He lays on his back quite a lot when sleeping, which is such a great sign, and has the loudest snores!
