Big Mack

Happy Tails

Big Mack went through some trials his first year; he was friendly but distrustful of us. We persevered and gave him time to adjust. Lots of love and pets, respecting his boundaries and giving space when he needed it. We were hoping that he would adapt and overcome his discomfort in time.

Through the year, we discovered that he was very constipated and took him to the vet. Through several examinations and a potentially fatal enema (overnight stay), we are so happy to report that he came out a better feeling cat! Suddenly, the burden was lifted (literally and metaphorically!) and he was a far happier boy! He greets us now, plays, cleans himself, purrs, and is grumpy when he can’t go out on the patio. He emerged to be a cat that has his needs met, trusts us, and has his own distinctive personality! He is super comfortable at home, and we can recognize his need to hide during thunderstorms, and love of string! He likes to be held on occasion and is a loving and important part of our family.

It was touch and go for a while there. We didn’t know if he would embrace his family and environment. We were told he would be hesitant around children, but our 9-year-old is his favourite human! I can’t describe the difference now. We are so happy and love our Big Macaroni! Thank you for helping us connect!
