Reika was transferred to Toronto Humane Society through our Animal Transport Program, with a note that she had been exposed to the parvovirus.
Reika’s intake exam was normal. She was approximately five-months-old and needed to be spayed. As she had been exposed to the parvovirus she was placed in quarantine. When her tests came back, she was negative for the parvovirus but positive for Coccidiosis. which is a parasite that causes severe diarrhea and weight loss.
Reika was started on medication to rid her of the parasites and, as most of the puppies that were in her transfer cohort were also positive for either roundworm or hookworm, she was treated for those as well.
Reika has been spayed and adopted.
