Giving Tuesday - Baloo

“Giving” Gave this Kitten a Family

Giving Tuesday 2021

A global movement to make the world a better place

#GivingTuesdayCA is a day devoted to giving back, helping those in need and working towards a better tomorrow. And there’s no better way to celebrate the season than to give back to those in need. In some cases, that means providing life-changing care that helps pets from overpopulated areas find their forever homes – pets like Baloo.

Baloo was transferred into our care as a kitten along with 3 of his siblings. They all tested positive for roundworm, suffered from ear mites, and had little to no experience with humans. Kittens are one of the most vulnerable animal shelter populations, so it was important they received the care they needed right away.

Once the kittens were stabilized, it was time to begin their long-term treatment plan. We knew it was going to be a long road for these little guys, but as we do with all the animals in our care, we maintained our commitment to finding them a forever home. Thankfully, with help from their Foster Parents, our training department, and medical staff, Baloo and his siblings improved in every way.

Each kitten was adopted into their respective forever homes, and they are doing amazing. Baloo’s adopter shared that they have been bonding well since Baloo arrived.

“I’m happy to say that things have been great,” said Baloo’s adopter. “We’ve been adjusting to one another quickly, and we have a strong bond. Baloo still has a way yet to go with some kitty etiquette, but the little guy is adjusting to all the newness amazingly.”

While he grows and becomes more confident, Baloo is living his best life with a new cat hammock, a dozen hand-made toys, and all the chicken treats a kitten could want.

Double the donation, double the impact

On #GivingTuesdayCA, your donations will be doubled thanks to AIG Canada. AIG Canada will match the first $5000 donated– doubling all efforts. Together, with your support, we can continue to grow our programs so that we can help more animals, as well as families in need, as we strive toward a more humane society for all.
