After the heartbreaking loss of our beloved dog of 13 years to cancer, and as my mother was reaching the final stages of her own cancer treatment—now thankfully in remission—we felt it was time to open our hearts again. Wanting to give a dog a second chance, we turned to Toronto Humane Society, where we met Skipper.
From the moment we saw him, we knew he was special. Skipper is the most loving dog you could ever meet—his gentle spirit can melt even the toughest of hearts. Over the past year, he has become the treasure of our family, bringing warmth, healing, and joy into our lives.
Skipper is adored by neighborhood kids, and even those once afraid of dogs feel at ease around him. His days are filled with cheerful walks, friendly encounters with other dogs, relaxing hammock time, and cozy naps on the sofa or in his bed. Skipper’s presence is a daily reminder of love, resilience, and the joy that comes from giving second chances.
