Happy Tails - Kensie

Kensie

Happy Tails

I guess our story began at the beginning of the pandemic. We were looking for a way to give back and decided to join Toronto Humane Society’s Foster progam. We figured it would be easy; love and let go – what could go wrong?

We fostered an Urgent Care foster pup for about 3 1/2 weeks and then he was ready to go home. We were on the search for our next foster and then two 7-week-old kittens came up, we jumped at the opportunity. We have two teenage daughters and the fact that these little fur babies were sisters was a no brainer, we needed to get them.

We brought them home and they fit right in from day one! Although we did have rough days, some wounds to heal, some minor colds to nurse them through, and a scary leap from a tall bed, all in all they were the happiest and funniest little babies!

We already have an 8-year-old cat, had just added the two kitties, and then we had gotten the call that the foster pup we had previously needed care again. Our house went from one animal to four in a matter of a week! We LOVED it! So much love, so much laughter, so much play!

Our older cat had fallen for Kensie, one of the kittens, and our daughters begged me to put in the adoption request. How could I say no? We submitted the request and had our adoption finalized within a week! Her official “Gotcha Day” was August 20th and she is now truly settled into her forever home.

Her sister had her adoption finalized with a lovely family, and although there were lots of tears, we are just so happy that she is going to a loving home in happy and healthy shape! We were nervous that Kensie would be a little lonely without her sister, but our big cat has stepped up his game and keeps her by him at all times and makes sure she is loved and groomed – and always has a nap mate!

We couldn’t be happier with our “Foster Fail” and can’t wait to help another pet in need, so we can share some more love and see them off to their forever home too!
