Humane Champion -Della

Della

| April 5, 2023

When Della and her sister, Margaret, were surrendered to Toronto Humane Society, it was noted that the cats occasionally had accidents outside their litter box (inappropriate urination).

Della had dark debris in her ears, which turned out to be ear mites and easily treated, as well as some hair loss patches on her stomach.

As inappropriate urination can be a symptom of a medical issue, our team ran blood and urine tests. The results showed that Della had a urinary tract infection which we treated with antibiotics. It’s very possible that the patches of missing fur from her belly were caused by Della over-grooming the area because of the urinary tract infection.

Our behaviour team assessed Della and Margaret and found they were a bonded pair. We’re happy to share that this duo has been adopted into the same home.
