Urgent Plea: Help Us Reconnect Max with his Family

| April 4, 2023

Do You Know Max’s Family?

On Monday, April 3rd, 2023, Max was left in the Primrose Avenue Parkette area (near Davenport Road and St. Clair Avenue) with this note:

Parting with an animal is one of the most heartbreaking choices a pet parent can make. With rising costs and inflation affecting everyday expenses like groceries, gasoline, and housing, many of us are just one crisis away from being unable to care for ourselves and for our pets.

Choosing between caring for your pet and caring for your well-being is not a fair choice – but unfortunately, with nowhere left to turn, this has become the reality for a growing number of families in Toronto and across the GTA.

To help keep more pets with their families, Toronto Humane Society launched our Urgent Care program in 2020. This program provides a temporary foster home to pets whose families are facing challenging circumstances. With their animal in the loving care of a Toronto Humane Society foster home, they can focus on themselves and get back on their feet while knowing their pet is being well cared for. Sadly, not everyone who is experiencing a crisis knows that we offer this program and are left with making one of the toughest decisions – surrendering or finding a new home for their pet.

Help Us Find Max’s Family

We’re looking for Max’s family. The hand-written note tells us that they care, and they want what is best for him. Their bond is strong and enrolling them into the Urgent Care program would give them the opportunity to stay together.

We’d like offer Max’s family the option of enrolling into our Urgent Care program so that when they’re back on their feet, they can be reunited again as a family.

If you are Max’s family, please reach out to us so we can ensure you and Max end up together. Visit us at 11 River Street or email us at info@torontohumanesociety.com
