Adopt a Rabbit Month

| February 24, 2023

February is Adopt a Rabbit Month, and it is time to celebrate these fluffy, funny, and fabulous creatures! Rabbits are hilarious and high-energy animals that will make you laugh with their silly antics. There are many rabbits in need of loving homes, and by adopting a rabbit, you are giving a deserving pet a happy life. Check out the following three reasons why rabbits make amazing pets.

Rabbits are Comedians in Disguise

Rabbits are natural comedians, always ready to put on a show with their hilarious antics. From their zooming binkies to their mischievous thievery of your socks, rabbits know how to bring a smile to your face. And let us not forget about their amazing “rabbit leap” skills, where they can jump up to four times their own body length in a single bound!

Rabbits are Great Companions (to us and each other!)

Rabbits are social creatures, and they love to be around their human family. They enjoy being petted, groomed, and snuggled, and they will often follow you around, hoping for back scratches. They also thrive with other rabbits, and adopting a pair of bonded rabbits, or bonding your currently single rabbit, can greatly benefit their well-being. When rabbits are paired with a compatible bunny companion, they are less likely to feel lonely, stressed, or anxious. Bonded rabbits groom each other, cuddle, and play together, which provides them both with mental and physical stimulation.

Rabbits have Long Lifespans

With proper care, rabbits can live for up to 10 years or longer, providing a long-term companion for their pet parents. It is important to note that caring for a rabbit also requires a commitment of time, effort, and money. You will need to provide proper housing, nutrition, and veterinary care, as well as plenty of attention and socialization. They need fresh food, water, and a tidy litter box daily. A mix of hay, veggies, and clean water is their perfect meal, and routine vet checkups keep them feeling their best. Before adopting a rabbit, make sure you have the time and resources to care for them properly. Remember, bunnies love playing with toys, exploring their surroundings, and making new friends, so providing them with plenty of space to wiggle and hop is important!
