I adopted Ivy nearly 2 years ago when she was approximately 6 years old.
When I went to see her, she hid at the very back of her little cat house and refused to emerge despite the proffered treats. I learned from staff that she had been abandoned and had some problems with anxiety leading to involuntary urination and defecation.
Even after I took her home, I was terrified that she wouldn’t be happy living with me. Fast forward to now, and she and I are true partners in crime. Every day she helps me learn to be a little bit braver.
I’m so grateful to all the staff at Toronto Humane Society who sent me home with all the information that I needed to look after Ivy and took such good care of Ivy before she and I could meet her.
