I’m Milo – a local Torontonian who visited Toronto Humane Society last September. I wanted to send a Happy Tails story to you all on my cat, Selkie (adopted as Marbles) and the amazing life and family we have together.
I got Selkie in September, when I’d originally come in for another kitten. My sister and I were devastated to hear the kitten I’d been interested in wasn’t going to be matched with me, but after some convincing from my sister, I decided to walk around and see the other cats in question.
There had been a new group brought in from Thunder Bay that hadn’t had a bio put on the website yet, and I was surprised when I walked into the next room over, where one of the aforementioned kittens had a group of people staring at them. The second I walked over, Selkie’s eyes locked with mine as she lay, belly out, posing for the paparazzi surrounding her.
It was love at first sight with that calico diva, and thanks to my application already having been sent through, and the lovely account manager who could immediately tell I was starstruck, I took her home that day. She immediately adjusted to her new home, and it took only a few days for her to run this place like she’d always been here.
Over the winter, I adopted a second cat so Selkie could have a little sister. And although it took a second for her to adjust (as two female cats do), Selkie and her little sister Loch are now the best of friends.
I’ve attached some photos, of Selkie (calico) and her new little sister (black kitten) – please extend my gratitude to the entire team, and let them know how grateful and happy both my girls and I are. Being a cat dad to my most amazing girls is beyond exciting, and I’m so excited to have them grow up with me.
