Clyde

| June 29, 2022

Clyde, an energetic and friendly dog, was a transfer to Toronto Humane Society. He seemed to be in good health on visual inspection, but when his bloodwork came back, he was positive for heartworm.

Heartworms live in the heart and pulmonary arteries, they can grow up to 30 cm long and, if left untreated, heartworms can result in death. The standard treatment for heartworms takes a few months, and our energetic Clyde would need to be chill and relaxed during this time.

Clyde also tested positive for Coccidiosis which means there were parasites causing damage in his intestinal tract. He was treated with medication and special baths to get rid of these parasites.  Clyde will remain in our care until he has been given a clean bill of health.
