Spooky, a 3-year-old cat, came to Toronto Humane Society with a history of inappropriate elimination.
An ultrasound and x-rays were done on his bladder and a urinalysis test was done and everything looked good.
Our behaviour team was brought on board to determine what was causing Spooky to not want to use his litterbox. Sometimes it’s a matter of not enough litter boxes. It is best if there is a litter box per cat plus one extra box. So for Spooky, that would mean two litter boxes. Sometimes, it’s to do with the size of the box, whether it is covered or not covered, and where the box is located. It can be a bit of a challenge to figure out the reason.
Currently, Spooky is in foster with an adoption pending. When Spooky is adopted, his new parents will have access to 4 free info sessions with our behaviour department.
