At Toronto Humane Society, our mission has always been to Improve the lives of animals by helping as many animals as possible find loving homes. We are thrilled to introduce a new initiative that takes a significant step toward achieving that goal outside of our doors: the Facilitated Rescue program.
The Facilitated Rescue program is designed to expand our adoption efforts beyond our facility’s walls. This innovative program allows animals available for adoption at other reputable animal rescues in Ontario to be featured on our website. By doing so, we aim to increase the visibility of these animals, giving them a better chance of finding their forever homes.
Let us introduce you to two wonderful animals currently featured in the Facilitated Rescue program:
Scout
Scout is a one-year-old, 40-pound bundle of love with a zest for life. He has a gorgeous coat, the sweetest eyes, and an unending affection for people. Scout loves cuddles and attention and is always eager to please. His favorite activities include playing tug-of-war and engaging with his human friends. While Scout adores people, he’s not fond of other dogs or cats and prefers to be the only pet in the household. He’s also unfamiliar with young children, so a home with kids over 16 would be ideal. Scout seeks a family with experience in handling dogs with resource guarding issues and an understanding of working/herding breeds.
Taffy
Taffy is the perfect sidekick and steady companion. She enjoys attention but also values her solitude. She is not a fan of other cats and would prefer a home without them. She doesn’t have much experience with dogs, so a dog-free home would also be ideal. She has great litterbox manners and enjoys playing, although she can be picky with toys. If you’re looking for a reliable friend to share your journey, she’s your girl.
The Facilitated Rescue program is more than just a listing service. It’s a collaborative effort to enhance the lives of animals in need. By leveraging our platform’s reach and our community’s dedication to animal welfare, we can help other rescues increase their adoption rates. This program aligns perfectly with our commitment to increasing our lifesaving capacity while efficiently managing our resources.
