Benji

Meet Benji!

At six years old, Benji is gentle and playful, with a funny side and a gorgeous smile.

He has been lovely to spend time with at the shelter: cooperative with handling, happy to say hello, and always ready to offer soft eye contact when he thinks a treat might be coming.

Benji loves a slow, sniff-filled walk along a quiet trail or grassy hill. He also enjoys running and playing, and has done well in playgroups with some dogs at the shelter. In his foster home, he was gentle with everyone in the household, including children.

Walks in a new neighbourhood may be more challenging for Benji. He can sometimes bark or lunge at dogs or people while on leash, so he'll need a family willing to give him space and help him practice his skills. At the shelter, he has learned to check in with his handler for a treat or a "good job, buddy!" before moving on to his next fascinating sniff. He also enjoys practicing familiar cues if things start to get too exciting for him.
