Abukar

Meet Abukar, a handsome 2-year-old boy who is still trying to figure out that the world can be a safe place. ??

Abukar's story is not fully known, but what we do know is that but we do know that he is a sensitive, shy boy who needs a little time to get comfortable. He is a sensitive boy who is especially frightened when he feels cornered or overwhelmed or in a loud environment.

But there are little glimpses of the softer Abukar underneath it all. In his previous home, he tolerated gentle petting on his head and back, and he simply needs time to adjust and learn to trust. He isn't a cat who wants to be picked up or fussed over - he'd much rather decide when and how interactions happen.

For now, Abukar needs a quiet, patient, adult-only home where he can decompress at his own pace. We don't yet know how he would feel about other animals.

He may not be the cat who runs up to greet you on day one. He may need you to sit quietly nearby and show him, day after day, that you mean him no harm.

But sometimes the cats who need the most patience are the ones who make the most meaningful connections.

Abukar isn't asking for perfection. He just needs someone willing to give him the time to feel safe
