Gumaro
Gumaro
Gumaro comes with 4 free training sessions!
Adventure seeker. Cuddler extraordinaire. Smarty pants.
These are just a few ways we would use to describe this handsome brown eyed boy.
Gumaro, aka Gumi, arrived in our care 2 years ago after journeying all the way from Mexico. With a bounce in his step and a smile on his face, he was just a young pup ready to start his adventure in Canada.
But, shortly after his arrival he fractured his hind leg and had to have surgery. You can probably imagine how frustrating this was for a young, energetic pup like Gumaro. He wanted to run, he wanted to play, he wanted to meet everyone he could with sloppy kisses. But Gumaro was still in recovery.
Now after taking some time to work on himself, Gumaro has brushed up on his house manners and his leash skills - picking up a few cool yoga stretches too - and now he's ready for the next chapter in his life - meeting his forever family.
The average day with Gumaro is full of cuddles and naps. He likes to start his mornings with snuggles and then it's off to the backyard to let out some energy. After breakfast, he's taking a power nap, and then playing until he's ready for another nap. When he wakes up, he's playing some more before dinner. And then to wind down the day, there's some more snuggles.
Gumaro has amazing house manners - he doesn't touch things that aren't his, he will do anything for treats (which is great for training), he learns new things quickly, he loves to spend time with his people, and can be trusted to be left alone at home.
He is also a great host when visitors come to visit. He greets guests at the door, shows them his tricks, and will even sit on their laps. He is sad when his new friends have to leave, and he'll watch their car pull out of the driveway. Everyone who meets Gumi falls in love with him and loves to visit him - he's a real charmer!
Meeting new people outside of the home is something Gumi is working on. He used to get overstimulated when he's outside - barking and lunging towards cars, people, and other animals. But he's made a lot of progress and is getting used to people and cars. Having a little pouch of treats during your walks will really help to redirect his attention.
Gumaro is currently dealing with allergies. He's currently taking medication to help relive him of the itches.
Gumaro needs a special family that is willing to continue working with him to build his confidence outside with positive reinforcement techniques. They would have experience handling large breed dogs, have an active lifestyle, and have a home would have a fenced in backyard for Gumaro to run around and let off some energy.
He could go home with older children so long as they are calm and considerate of his energetic personality. He has lived with another dog and would be open to sharing his space with another dog if introductions are done slowly and properly.
Gumaro is full of life and love. He's got such a fun personality. He'll never say no to an adventure and will never leave your side once he gets to know you. He just needs to meet his perfect match that'll help translate his amazing manners from inside of his home to outside. In return, you'll receive endless snuggles, adorable puppy eye blinks, and opportunities to rub his belly.
