Gandalf, a friendly 10-year-old Beagle mix, was transferred from Georgia through our Animal Transport Program. He came to us diagnosed with a tick-borne disease called Ehrlichiosis. This disease infects the white blood cells, resulting in anemia. Gandalf was lethargic and had poor skin tone. Our intake staff noted that Gandalf also had quite a few teeth that were chipped.
Gandalf was given antibiotics to treat the Ehrlichiosis, and his teeth were cared for. A specialized diet of healthy, high-quality food helped him gain back the weight he had lost and helped increase his energy. His skin and fur issues were treated with special supplements and medicated baths.
Gandalf has been adopted.
