Meeting Callie, you would never know about her recent accident. Well, the splints on her back legs a few weeks ago would have probably given it away. But apart from that, you’d be shocked to know that this ray of sunshine fell 6 stories from a balcony.
Callie sustained severe injuries to both of her back legs, broke her right tibia and fibula, and dislocated her left ankle. She was unable to walk and was in severe pain. But despite her accident, and her long road to recovery ahead of her, Callie has remained true to herself – a snuggly social butterfly who wins people over by flopping over for belly rubs.
She was treated with pain medications and splints on both of her back legs. Her dedicated foster parents brought her in weekly for bandage changes and rehabilitation sessions. Eventually, her bones began to heal and recently she had her splints taken off.
What’s Callie up to now? Thanks to supporters like you, our medical and rehabilitation teams, and her loving foster parents, Callie is now walking on both legs while she continues her weekly physical therapy sessions. When she isn’t trying to become best friends with everyone she meets, you’ll find her snuggled up with a plush toy.
Of course, Callie still has a way to go, but once she is cleared by our medical and rehabilitation teams, she’ll be moving onto the next chapter of her life and finding her forever family. She’s looking for a family who is committed to helping her continue her rehab journey and can give her limitless belly rubs.
By supporting Toronto Humane Society this #GivingTuesdayCA, your donation will help improve the lives of animals while they are on their journey of finding forever homes – for some pets this means providing them with life-saving medical care, just like Callie.
Plus, every dollar you donate to support the work done by Toronto Humane Society will be matched by AIG Canada as they are matching the first $5000 raised. Your donation will be doubled, creating twice the impact for animals in need.
