I adopted ‘Scamps’ on December 6, 2024. My wife and I deeply felt the loss of our grey rabbit, Vera, back in September of 2024. By December, her surviving partner, Leonard, was comfortable but lost; like us, he missed the assertive and funny personality she brought to our home. When we came to the shelter to consider a new friend for him, we sought someone of a comparable size to our full-bodied English Spot. From the moment we entered the shelter’s warren, a tiny ginger mini rex caught our eye – ‘Scamps’ ! We took him home to Leonard the next morning.
‘Scamps’ became Declán. Declán immediately sought dominance over Leonard and they warred for many weeks. Fur flew! This can happen between two bucks. We were patient, supervised and duly separated them. Finally, I am delighted to report, Declán and Leonard have built an affectionate and supportive bond. We are so thrilled that our darling Leonard once again has a tiny little leader to guide him through life. We are immensely grateful to Neil Reilly for his considerate, kind, and helpful support as we transitioned our newest and littlest family member into our home.
