I adopted Taylor from Toronto Humane Society about 11 years ago. I’ve always had a soft spot for bassets so when I saw her photograph on the website, I jumped at the chance and went to meet her immediately. She was the most beautiful basset I’d ever seen.
We’ve had a wonderful time together. She’s had some health issues, including spinal surgery and more recently, severe pancreatitis, but she’s had a very good life and continues to do well. Even on the coldest days, she’ll go out for a walk around the block. She loves stopping and sniffing, and enjoying the back lanes near my house. She’s not too keen on meeting new dogs when out and about, so I just tell everybody that she’s a bit of a grumpy old lady enjoying a quiet retirement.
I bought her a special treat and a nice pink harness for her 15th birthday a few months ago. We love having her as part of our family. Here she is on her ride home from the Toronto Humane Society after her adoption, and on her 15th birthday.
