Foster Nursing Moms and Their Pups

| February 6, 2026

Right now, we’re urgently looking for foster parents who can open their homes to nursing moms and their puppies. These families need a safe, quiet place to grow—and foster care provides them with the comfort and stability they need during this critical stage.

Puppies will stay with their mom until they are fully weaned, giving them the best possible start in life. Once ready, pups may move into separate foster homes where they can continue to grow, build confidence, and get strong enough for their spay or neuter surgery—before moving on to loving forever homes.

Fostering is incredibly rewarding. You’ll witness important milestones like first steps, playful personalities emerging, and the relief a mom feels when she knows her babies are safe. It’s a meaningful way to make a real impact in animals’ lives—without a long-term commitment.

We provide all food, supplies, and medical care for mom and pups, and foster parents have access to our behaviour teams whenever support or guidance is needed. Foster parents provide the love, patience, and a nurturing home—everything else is covered.

If you’re ready to help a family in need and experience the joy of fostering, we’d love to hear from you. Email foster@torontohumanesociety.com to apply and learn more.
