Colada, a lovable 1-year-old puppy came to Toronto Humane Society in need of help. When she was surrendered to us, Colada was facing significant medical challenges. She had a severe allergic skin condition that caused hair loss and uncomfortable, irritating, itchy chronic changes to the skin on her stomach.
But thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, Colada’s story took a turn for the better.
With your donations, we were able to provide Colada with the essential treatment she needed to begin her journey to recovery. Weekly medicated baths soothed her irritated skin, while the medical team monitored her condition closely, ensuring that her allergies were properly managed.
On top of that, we provided her with behavioral training to help channel her high energy and address some impulsive behaviours. Colada may have been a bit jumpy and mouthy at first, but with time and patience, she learned better ways to express her excitement.
Once she was medically cleared, Colada found was adopted in October 2024. She’s now living her best life, happy, healthy, and full of love. Here’s what her new family has to say:
“She’s very happy in her new home. Her skin seems to be clearing up—it’s much less red and tender now. She loves going for walks by the lake and playing stick in the park. She’s also a big snuggle bug. I’ve switched her food to a natural no-grain, high-protein diet, and that’s doing well for her.”
