September 6th marks National Food Bank Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about food insecurity and the efforts to combat hunger in our communities. At Toronto Humane Society, we recognize that this struggle doesn’t just affect people—it impacts pets as well. That’s why we’re committed to supporting pets and their families through our Pet Food Bank and monthly Community Day events.
As of July of this year, we’ve distributed approximately 77,466 pounds of food to pets in need, reflecting a significant and growing demand for this vital service in our community. Many pet parents face difficult times and rely on our support to keep their beloved pets fed and healthy.
Our Pet Food Bank and Community Day programs offer more than just a source of food—they’re a lifeline for families struggling to make ends meet. These initiatives ensure that pets can remain in their loving homes, even when financial hardships arise. By providing essential supplies and food, we help alleviate the stress on pet parents, allowing them to focus on caring for themselves during challenging times.
Our Pet Food Bank and Community Day events are entirely supported by the generosity of our donors. If you’re passionate about helping pets in need, please consider contributing to our Pet Food Bank program. Donations of pet supplies, pet food, or monetary contributions are all deeply appreciated and make a direct impact on the lives of pets in our community.
If you wish to donate pet supplies or unopened bags of pet food, please drop off your donations at 11 River Street during our operating hours. Your support is crucial in sustaining this vital service, and together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families.
